Monster Mash

Snag Only Please

OMG, I'm so tired and so grumpy this morning. It was a loooong night last night. My neighbors have 5 ... yes 5 really big dogs that love to bark very loud. A lot of the time they stop around 9:30 at night and all is well. Well, last night was not one of those times. I woke up at 10 tot he parking, a little after 1am to barking then at 5 this morning. I laid in bed until about 5:30 hoping they would shut up ... they never did so I just got up.
Here's my question ... hubby wants to call the cops on them but I say we should be neighborly and ask them once again to do something with their dogs. Hubby has gone to them on 2 seperate occations asking them to please put their dogs up at night because they are keeping us awake at night. The guy says he'll see what he can do but nothing ever gets done about it. I think it's because he doesn't hear the problem like we do. Their bedroom is on the other side of where the dogs bark & the dogs bark right into our window. Closing the windows don't help. The only one who doesn't hear the dogs barking like crazy is DS who's bedroom is on the other side of the house. Would you call the cops or would you once again do the neighborly thing & ask them to do something about their dogs? My thinking is we will be living next to these people forever cause we aren't moving ... they aren't moving so why cause waves? But on the other side of it ... I WANT SLEEP!!!

I know in Florida you can call and complain to the animal control office then they will send a notice (or post it to their door) that they have received a complaint about their dogs barking. It's anonymous, but even if they know it was you then at least they know that you aren't just gonna sit there and do nothing anymore. It's not as drastic as going to the cops...that's what I'd do...you've got to sleep!

Either the animal control or the cops, either way I would call. That's ridiculious they don't have more control or restraint on their animals. You tried it the nice way and approached them on 2 different occasions. It's time to put nice away and make the call. (Hugs)Indigo

I know dealing with the neighbors is always a testy situation b/c you never know when they are going to turn "mean" and try to get back at you. They know where you live. lol.
On the other hand you want peace. You all have done the right thing by asking the neighbor first. I think you have every right to call if you have exhausted all else.
Good luck.

I think I would call the cops or something since you have attempted to talk to the owners and nothing has been done yet. Linda

Thats a hard thing figure out, we used to have a dog who would bark alot at night, it was annoying to us to but we didn't know how to stop it or why he was barking. Im still not sure, im glad noone ever called the cops because of it. But maybe try to talk to the one more time about it and if nothing changes, do what u think is best.

call the cops if he went over twice then thats twice to many. They need to realize that they arent the only people in that area and to be considerate...then when something happens to their dogs they want law and order..please.

You've already asked nicely, now it is time for someone else to handle it. Being a pet owner means being responsible for your pets and they are not...i am sure you are not the only neighbor bothered by their noise. You can tell the cops you don't want to be identified. Good luck...I have a very NOISY DRUNK neighbor that keeps us up a lot too.

Sorry to hear about those dogs keeping you up. That would be hard not getting enough sleep. BTW I really love the way your blog looks. I think Bloggerville suits you just fine. Have a happy week. Luv ya!

Nice tag! You need your sleep. If all efforts fall and they still barking waking you up the there is only one thing felt to do, make the call.

Don't the dogs keep them awake as well? Very inconsiderate of your neighbors. I hope today is a better day.

I'm in the same situation over here. Our neighbors let their dog get out of their yard. The other day he was running all over the subdivision they could have cared less. Then the evening came and he was at my house over by the railroad barking and barking this went on ALL night. I felt so bad for Jay because he had to get up and go to class the next day. I really thought about calling the neighbor at 3am and telling them they need to come get the dog NOW. I guess some other people said something because they have him back up now. We'll see how long that lasts. But you all are trying to be nice about things, but heck you need some sleep.
Take care, Chrissie
